So you thought anything with collars is formal? Not necessarily. Collared shirts have occupied an evergreen position in the fashion world right since its inception, emerging out to be a very popular wear amongst youngsters and adolescents. Glamorous in look, elegant in style, collared shirt gives young boys and girls a jubilant as well as an exquisite look to flaunt upon.
It’s important to be experimental and creative when you wear collared shirts to bring about interesting options and looks. So, let’s see how you can even rock a collared shirt and make it look casual and funky.
Just put on a sweater over your collared shirt
As winter is at its best, there is hardly any chance to escape the chilling sensation that winter brings along. What you can do is to pair a shirt with a pullover, cardigan or a sweater and bring in that sassy and smart look. Use a bright coloured collared shirt underneath instead of plain white so that you don’t look like a college professor. You can do this in several bold colours like blue, red, green etc.
Can’t make up your mind whether to tuck in or not?
Most of the times, collared shirts are tucked in. Collared shirts at times also have a short cut and can be worn with trousers or pants without tucking it in. At other times, you may want to tuck it in to show off a fancy belt – in that case, your belt has to be super cool.
Finally there are those un-tuckers, for whom there is a word of caution… Untucking your collared shirt can make you look shorter. So if you’re already a real short dude, you must be better off tucking that shirt in, giving an illusion of your legs being longer than they actually are.
Collared shirts with pleated skirts:
Tuck in that white shirt in such a way that it looks like a pleated midi and do button it fully to best match with the work and dressing culture of your city. Add some funky accessories too to pep it up or let it be some sober earrings and watch for a formal and official look.
Oversized shirts with converse:
You don’t need to iron your shirts neatly all the time, if your shirt is oversized, then better go for a shabby denim mini skirt to make the world around you completely jealous. You can complete your outfit by putting on a pair of converse and set your hair down loose. Alternatively, you can also go for knee-high boots and a pair of dark shaded or black sunglasses to give you that raw look.
If you go for on leaving your shirt out, we would suggest you having your collared shirt be cut shorter to look all the more flattering. So be experimental and think different! Collars are not always formal.
